BASIC EQUIPTMENT:
- Metal T-square--24 inches long
- Rolling ruler
- Metal ruler -- 18 inches or longer
- Exacto knife -- for trimming finished artwork
- Compass-for drawing circles
- Pencils (HB and B) for drawing lines
- Bone Folder -- for scoring and folding paper
- Sable paint brushes -- for fine detailing and floral work
- Gum arabic -- helps to "fix" the gauche paint to your paper
- Cutting mat
- Reservoirs -- to be used on the pen nib when using colored inks
- Ruling pen -- for lines in paint or ink
- Masking tape
- Drawing board or angled drawing table
- Light box
- Pen nibs (sizes 0, 1, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, and 6)
- Several nib holders
- Chinese ink stick -- which you must grind with water
- Grinding Ink stone -- a well to hold your ink
- Writing fluids -- watercolor paint, gauche, gold and silver tablets

- Tracing paper pad for layout work
- Machine-made paper with cotton or linen rag
- Smooth watercolor papers
- Printmaking papers -- which are soft and smooth
- Handmade papers -- expensive, so it should be used for your finest work (ie:a special poem or family tree)
- Vellum which is made of cowskin or specially treated calfskin, is very expensive, but it's very strong, durable, and flexible.
